Job Description

Akira Energy is looking for a Purchaser based in or around IJmuiden, The Netherlands.


Department Overview

You will be working within the Purchasing Department, which plays a critical role in supporting onshore and offshore operations by managing procurement and logistics activities. The team is small, professional, and dynamic, ensuring effective supplier management and timely delivery of materials and services that support operational excellence.


Position Summary

The Purchaser is responsible for coordinating and carrying out onshore purchasing activities, including requisition processing, supplier evaluations, cost control, quality monitoring, and delivery assurance. The role involves close cooperation with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure materials and services meet operational, technical, and regulatory requirements.

The position is primarily office-based in IJmuiden and may include occasional offshore or on-site visits.


Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned tasks in line with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

  • Share relevant updates and insights with colleagues to support continuous improvement and alignment with industry developments.

  • Maintain confidentiality of commercial, technical, and personal information at all times.

  • Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental practices.

  • Promote sustainable procurement practices, minimizing waste, energy consumption, and emissions where possible.

Purchasing Responsibilities

  • Issue requests for quotations (RFQs) and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, lead time, and reliability.

  • Convert approved requisitions into purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Monitor order progress to ensure compliance with quality requirements, delivery schedules, and specifications.

  • Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.

  • Liaise with offshore and onshore stakeholders to ensure stock levels and material availability meet operational needs.

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of purchase orders, requisitions, quotations, and related documentation.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.


Knowledge

  • Understanding of technical equipment and materials, including electrical and mechanical components.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g. IMDG, ISO, NEN, COSHH).

  • Knowledge of transport and logistics by air and sea.

  • Ability to interpret purchase-related documentation, specifications, and contracts.


Function Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in technical purchasing or buying.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

  • Self-confident with good social and communication skills.

  • Hands-on, proactive, and solution-oriented attitude.

  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities.

  • Experience in offshore or marine environments is considered a plus.
